Kristen Stewart Says Shooting New Moon ‘Killed Me’

It wasn’t easy shooting the Twilight sequel New Moon for Kristen Stewart — especially when her character Bella has to tell Jacob (Taylor Lautner) that she still longs for vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson).
Do you suppose it’s his sparkly member she can’t forget?
She told MTV News, “New Moon is the one book in the series that I was intimidated by — in a good way. That’s the best feeling to start a movie with. But probably, my favorite line in the book is when I have to say to [Jacob], “It’s him; it’s always been him!” Like, I have to say that. Yeah, it killed me, it killed me. Just like everything in our movie, it’s such a heightened version of reality. It’s like, people don’t just break up [in the "Twilight" films] — they break up and it literally kills you. It’s not like you just say, ‘Oh, I’m really depressed and crying.’ Everything is supposed to be a fantasy version of that. So I always had a really hard time figuring out, ‘Am I doing enough? Do I look like I’m going to die?’” Lautner agrees, telling MTV News that New Moon is “very complicated.
There’s a lot of heartbreak, there’s a lot of things going on. Edward leaves at the beginning, she goes into this depression, I come to try and bring her out of it.” “Then I go through my own issues, and then she leaves me. It’s all over the place, and there’s a lot going on, and there’s many of those scenes that you described.” His favorite scene to shoot? “Well, we call it the break-up scene — but it’s the scene right after she sees me shirtless and I’ve cut off my hair, all different for the first time,” he says. “I have to tell her that we can’t be friends anymore.” Says Stewart, “He attempts to break up with me — but it doesn’t work out.”

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is a 2009 American romantic fantasy film based on Stephenie Meyer's 2006 novel New Moon. It is the second film in The Twilight Saga film series and is the sequel to 2008's Twilight, which is also based on Meyer's previous novel. Summit Entertainment greenlit the sequel in late November 2008, following the early success of Twilight.[3] Directed by Chris Weitz, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner,[4] reprising their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black, respectively.
Melissa Rosenberg, who handed in a draft of the film script during the opening weekend of Twilight, returned as screenwriter for The Twilight Saga: New Moon.[5] Filming began in Vancouver in late March 2009,[6][7][8] and in Montepulciano, Italy in late May 2009.[9][10]
The Twilight Saga: New Moon was released on November 20, 2009 in most countries, and set domestic box office records as the biggest midnight screening with $26.3 million.
